How to Remove a Broken Key From a Door Lock

Many times it happens that the key which we use to open the door lock gets stuck in the door lock and when we try to take that out it just gets broken and half part of it remains inside the lock. Today in this article we will talk about some of the easiest methods to take that broken part of the keys from the door lock very easily. Let’s start with scissors.

Scissors

There are many of the tools which we can use to take out the parts of the broken key from the door lock. One of them is the use of scissors. We all know that when the half parts of the keys get broken in the keyway of the lock, we cannot take it out with our hands. But when we use the scissors instead we can take that out easily. For this, we need to use just the tip of the scissors and not the shared sides. With the help of this tip, we can press the small outer edge of the broken part of the key against the inside wall of the keyway and then slide it outwards. After attempting this for a few times, the broken key gets out easily.

With pliers

With pliers

Pliers can also be used in many instances when we can’t take the broken keys out of the key in anyways. In the above-mentioned way when the keys are a bit outside with the help of the scissors, you can take the help of pliers to take out the remaining part of the key. When there are few parts of the keys out but we can not take it out with the help of fingers merely, we can directly use the pliers without using the scissors.

Drillers

In many of the cases, we cannot take the broken key out even after applying the method of scissors and pliers. In such a situation we can use this drilling method. For this purpose, we need to use the driller which makes very small holes. With that drill, we need to make a hole nearby the keyway opening. Once holes are made, we can use this drill pointer to insert in the hole made and to press the broken key against the inside wall of the keyway hole and then slide it towards yourself outside.

Adhesive live Fevi quick

This is the most interesting and easiest method perhaps to take the broken key out. In this method, you just need to apply any good adhesive or Fevi quickly and keep it on the broken part of the remaining key which we have. The extra glue which spreads out we need to wipe out. Now we need to keep this half key again into the keyway and press it there gently and keep it just like that for a few minutes. After some time, when you take the half key out it takes out the remaining half key also with it.
